Our adoption journey began with a precious little girl.
Two weeks following our committment to adopt her, Russia outlawed American adoptions. Our family is heartbroken, but we trust that God's timing is perfect. We feel that she is our daughter and that we will keep the candle burning for her until she is safely in our arms. This little Ruski has a piece of our hearts and we yearn for the day when she will be a Turley forever. Please continue to pray for the situation in Russia and all the precious souls caught in the middle.

Yana's face was the one that opened my eyes to the plight of special needs orphans in Eastern Europe, specifically Russia. I don't remember whose blog had her listing displayed to advocate for her, but in early December 2012, I clicked on her picture and it took me to Reece's Rainbow. I have not been the same since. I fell in love with little London (HIV+ on RR), and had just begun to whisper the first prayers for him when the ban went into effect. I was devastated for him and for all of the precious little ones who are trapped. We committed to give to London's grant fund on a monthly basis, but shortly after we began, Reece's Rainbow was forced to discontinue receiving donations for the funds of children in Russia. I have been praying for and searching out avenues to give to help meet the needs of these children in their orphanages and institutions, and my children are just completing a fundraiser. Half of the funds raised are going to ROOF, and half to Alyona & Slavik, a couple who minister to the "Lost Boys" in the Ukraine through Harvest International. I am so happy to have stumbled upon your blog and to find out that you had committed to Yana. I want you to know that I will carry a candle alongside you, for Yana! I believe that God is more than able to move what appears to be a Mt. Everest sized obstacle, and bring her home to you one day. In the meantime, may He bless you, equip you, and speed the process of bringing Nigel into your arms.

I'm so touched by Lori Young's comment on your post...tears rolling down my face. I'm just so moved to see that one little girl (and hundreds of other orphans) have touched so many hearts. She is right...it may seem Mt.Everest-sized, but God is more than able. So grateful for the encouraging people God is surrounding you with as you wait. Love you.
